Supreme Court judges to make declaration of assets public

Supreme Court judges have decided to make their asset declarations public, aiming to enhance transparency and strengthen public trust in the judiciary.

During a full-court meeting on April 1, the judges resolved to disclose their assets to the Chief Justice of India, with the information also set to be uploaded on the Supreme Court’s official website. The specific procedures for publishing these declarations will be determined in due course, according to reports.

Notably, all Supreme Court judges have already submitted their asset declarations, but these have not been publicly accessible until now.

This decision follows recent controversy over the discovery of burnt cash at the official residence of Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Varma after a fire incident.
