Central Railway RPF reunites 584 children, adults

Mumbai: The Central Railway RPF managed to reunite 584 children and adults between January 1 to April 30. The RPF held three operations namely Operation Nanhe Faristey – Reuniting Lost Children with their Families and Operation Dignity – Protection & Care of Needy Vulnerable Adults.

The RPF Central Railway rescued 499 children, comprising 331 boys and 168 girls, and reunited them with their families or handed them over to Child Welfare Committees/NGOs. The children were from underprivileged backgrounds.

Under the Operation Dignity from January to April 2026, RPF rescued a total of 85 persons, comprising 38 men and 47 women, who were in need of care and protection. These men and women were destitute and they were either missing, mental health care, left behind or runaway. There were 46 runaway cases and 15 missing cases. They were in a condition where they urgently needed attention and help. A lot of them were safely reunited with their families.

There are passengers who try to board moving trains and sometimes they slip. This could lead to a terrible mishap. In many such cases the RPF have managed to act in time and save lives. These acts were carried out under Operation Jeevan Raksha. From January to April 2026, a total of 25 lives were saved across Central Railway. This includes 20 male and five female passengers.

“The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has become more vigilant and that is why we are able to save more such cases. This year we managed to save and rescue more lives as compared to last year. The RPF of Central Railway has always been at the forefront in not only keeping a round-the-clock vigil in safeguarding railway properties but also playing multiple roles,” said Dr. Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway.

He added, “The RPF is not just a security force but also a compassionate arm of Indian Railways. Saving lives, rescuing children, providing care and protection to lost adults is a testament to their alertness and public service. The RPF is committed to ensuring the safety and security of passengers, railway property, and assets across its jurisdiction. With a dedicated team of professionals, it upholds the highest standards of integrity, vigilance, and public service.”
