Robert Vadra appears before ED in Haryana land deal case, Calls summons 'political vendetta'

Businessman Robert Vadra, brother-in-law of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today for questioning in a money laundering case related to a land deal.

On his way to the ED office, Vadra called the summons a "political vendetta by the BJP". He said, "Whenever I raised the people's voice, they tried to suppress me. I have nothing to hide. They can ask me anything, and I will answer."

The case involves a land deal in Haryana. Vadra’s wife, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, is the Congress MP from Wayanad in Kerala. This is the second summon issued to Vadra in this case—he was earlier asked to appear on April 8 but did not.

According to reports, his statement will be recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) once he appears before the agency.

Vadra has also been questioned earlier by the ED in a separate money laundering case.

The current case is related to a February 2008 land purchase by his firm, Skylight Hospitality, for ₹7.5 crore. The mutation was completed the next day—an unusually fast process. A few months later, Vadra obtained permission to develop a housing society on the land, raising its value. He later sold the property to DLF in June for ₹58 crore.
