Mumbai: The biggest buzz about Amit Shah’s concluding address at the Maharashtra BJP’s conclave at Shirdi on Sunday is that it has put to rest the speculations regarding merger of the NCP (SP) and Shiv Sena(UBT) into the BJP or adopting them as part of Mahayuti. However, this is just one of the targets that the address has achieved and it can be described as the very obvious one.
If one tries to search deep into Shah’s Shirdi address, it may appear like an iceberg where only a small portion is openly visible but when one tries to make a complete sense of it, that leaves the person completely overwhelmed by its enormity. Shah not just put an end to the speculations regarding the two of the BJP’s opponents in the state trying to cozy up with the party, but also revived and sharpened the party’s attack against them.
While stating that, “The people of Maharashtra have decided that Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena is the true Shiv Sena of Balasaheb Thackeray, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP is the real NCP” Shah also cleverly put to rest the arguments in this regard and also indicated that whatever legal fights still lingering in the courts are just notional one.
In doing this Shah also destroyed the narrative that Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray and their loyalists wanted to build to justify their defeat in assembly polls. Shah established that these leaders won’t have much space in Maharashtra politics henceforth and that they are the spent force. By giving numbers, he also put to rest the narratives that the BJP’s and the Mahayut’s victory in assembly polls was due to certain class of the society or is driven by a particular region etc. He demonstrated that it was a complete and decisive victory spread evenly across all areas of the state.
In doing so, Shah also gave the party cadres a clear target as regards local body elections. He set the goal by stating that the Mahayuti shall not leave any room for the opposition even at the local body level. He also explained the way to achieve this by the way of party organization and drove the cadres towards the ongoing membership drive of the party, where they plan to have over 1.5 crore members across the state or 250 members at each booth level.
In doing so, Shah also made it clear to the newcomers to the party that the organization is supreme here and that party walks the talk means. “By rejecting dynastic politics, the people of Maharashtra have once again reaffirmed that only politics based on principles will thrive in the country,” he reminded the party cadres. He also said, “BJP government follows a tradition of delivering on its promises,” while reminding the cadres of how the government at the center has fulfilled its promises. He also warned the party leaders of probable mistakes while asking them to be watchful to avoid them.
Shah also put forth a larger picture as to which way the party is driving the nation and national politics. “Without the development of Maharashtra, the development of the country is impossible,” he said while stressing that the development of Maharashtra is significant for the development of India. He also took potshots at the Congress stating that after the blow given by the people of Maharashtra, the INDI alliance has started to wither away. This way he underlined the importance of the state from a national perspective while motivating the party cadres.
Lastly, while praising the current allies, he also reminded them of the party’s strengths and policies while dropping a hint to them not to cross the line.
