Mumbai: The Central Railway Mumbai Division’s monthly revenue collection increased from Rs. 570.42 crore in the month of April 2026 as compared to April 2025 which was Rs. 528.17 crore. The amount increased by 8%. The growth was boosted due to several reasons, such as coaching, sundry, and ticket checking segments, reflecting sustained passenger demand and enhanced revenue realization efforts.
Last year, in April 2025, the coaching revenue was Rs. 320.60 crore. However, in April 2026, the revenue increased by 10.12%. There was a significant rise in other coaching revenue. As compared to last year, the collection surged 41.26%, rising to Rs. 50.33 crore from Rs. 35.63 crore. A large sum of revenue was generated from the ticket checking drives. The revenue surged by 165.89%, Rs. 16.13 crore as against Rs. 6.07 crore in April 2025.
“We have increased the number of trains, which resulted in more passengers and a boost in ticket revenue. The loading of goods and other freight-related income had also contributed towards this milestone. Commercial publicity, which is a non-fare income, was an addition to the revenue,” said a spokesperson.
The increase was a result of not just coaching and ticket checking but also non-fare charges. The Central Railway Division is taking measures to boost the non-revenue fare. Among many ways are Out of Home (OOH) hoarding contracts at Thane, Panvel, Trombay, and Targhar stations, which cost Rs. 3.55 crore for a period of 5 years. The 3 contracts for exterior vinyl wrapping of EMU rakes were awarded for Rs. 88.69 lakh for 5 years.
The contracts for new advertisements have been finalized for the Vande Bharat Express train. It would cost Rs. 15 lakh per annum for backside advertisement of food/snack trays in trains and Rs. 16.83 lakh per annum for headrest advertising, both for 3 years. Additionally, interior advertising in one of the trains of the Mahanagari Express will generate Rs. 13.22 lakh per annum for 5 years.
In addition, measures like Emergency Medical Room (EMR) facilities at Bhandup, Dadar, Kanjurmarg, Vithalwadi, and Dombivli stations for Rs. 9.16 lakh for 5 years, are also being taken.
A gaming zone facility between Dombivli and Thakurli stations for Rs. 16.12 lakh for 5 years and new waiting room-cum-canteen contracts at Kalyan Railway Hospital, NGSM goods shed, Kalamboli goods shed, and Taloja Goods shed for Rs. 8.84 lakh per annum for 5 years have also been awarded. Other initiatives include relaxation massage chairs at Matheran station for Rs. 2 lakh per annum for 3 years.
