Ayushmann Khurrana alleges extortion call from Bishnoi Gang
Mumbai: National Award winner Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly been targeted with a threatening message to extort a huge amount by a person claiming links with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The Mumbai Police said they have detained a techie from Bengaluru, identified as Vaibhav Mishra for allegedly issuing threats to Bollywood personalities. He is likely to be brought to Mumbai soon for investigations.
The threat to Khurrana, 43, comes a day after another actor Tusshar Kapoor was similarly threatened by a mafia extortion message demanding five crore rupees, sending Bollywood into a fresh tizzy.
Though the police confirm the audio message to Khurrana, no FIR has been lodged as they are first examining its authenticity and the possible links of the detenu Mishra to the gangland.
The latest threats have revived memories of the firing at actor Tiger Shroff in Juhu on Oct. 18 in a public place raising concerns about whether gangsters are systematically targeting Bollywood biggies or mischievous elements are exploiting dreaded gangs’ names to unleash fear in the film industry.
However, unlike the Shroff incident, no gang has claimed responsibility for the threats to Khurrana and investigators hope for some breakthrough after the detained suspect is brought here from Bengaluru.
The Cyber Cell is tracing the origins of the number from where the audio message was received by Khurrana, its location, comparing the person’s voice with the accused already on police records and verifying his purported claims of underworld links.
They are also trying to ascertain whether the threats to Khurrana and Kapoor and Shroff are linked or not. In Kapoor’s matter, the caller reportedly identified himself as Harry Boxer claiming to be a member of the Bishnoi outfit.
Not taking chances with faker callers or fraudulent messages, the Mumbai police have already tightened or upgraded security to celebs like Salman Khan – targeted multiple times by the Bishnoi gang.
